Sarasota Dance Theatre is proud to offer morning and evening classes for adult students, with a variety of levels. Students may attend one class or purchase a series of classes that never expire. Come see what people are talking about!                                                                                                                                                                                                *Our schedule is always up to date. Done barefoot to diverse and inspiring music, Nia is a transformational movement practice that teaches you to be more joyful, expressive, and ALIVE in your body -both inside and outside the studio. Nia is holistic, engaging your body, mind, and spirit. Nia draws from dance arts, martial arts, and the healing arts to create purposeful movements that will help you grow and learn. Why practice Nia? Nia increase the pleasure of living - creating weight loss, weight maintenance, and overall fitness. Nia strengthens muscles, improves muscle tone, and increases flexibility, grace, and endurance. Nia calms the mind and relieves stress, improving cognitive function.

YOGA: Class will emphasize optimal, anatomical alignment for each student's body type through an introduction of basic and intermediate level yoga postures (asanas). Emphasis is on building strength, flexibility, and reducing stress. Pranayana and meditation techniques will be introduced as well. Each class will end with deep relaxation and incorporate Hatha and other forms of Yoga. A wonderful class for all fitness levels.You may bring Yoga mat or towel, water, and any accessories you may need.

Mixed Level & Intermediate Ballet: Classical ballet classes taught in the Vaganova and Royal Academy of Dance teaching methods. Focus is on building technique, strength, flexibility, and ballet terminology. Class consists of barre and center work. Individual attention is given to each student and all classes are structured to meet the ability of students. We offer both morning and evening classes, as well as private instruction.

Ballet & Stretch: Classical ballet class focusing on the fundamentals of ballet technique. Students will learn proper use of arms, feet, upper and lower bodies, and to incorporate entire body throughout training. Additional stretching and flexibility exercises are included in this class, at both barre and in center. A wonderful class for all fitness levels and for beginning-intermediate level ballet students opting for in depth knowledge of ballet.

Ballet/Artistic Director: Marlena Abaza

            

TAP: Broadway style tap class, concentrating on building a solid understanding of tap. Emphasis is on basic skills, rhythm, coordination, and terminology. Students will learn the fundamentals of tap technique, complete with exercises and choreography to enhance the learning process. A fun, rewarding class for beginning and intermediate tap students. Instructor individualizes all classes to meet the ability of student. Instructor : Becky Holahan                                   


Jazz: Dancers are trained using a mix of traditional and theatrical jazz techniques, as well as a modern day style of dance - focusing on body alignment, strength, jumps, and agility. Music is a variety of pop, funk, Broadway themed, and experimental. A fun and rewarding class, building on learning choreography and technique. Prior dance experience recommended. (for intermediate level only) Students should wear comfortable clothing. Bare feet or jazz shoes are appropriate footwear.
